Mangalore : Karnataka Governor HR Bharadwaj has said that the proposal to name a university after the valiant freedom fighter Tipu Sultan should be welcomed by all as Tipu was a national hero.
The governor was referring to the criticisms leveled against the proposal by several leaders including writers. Speaking to reporters at Circuit House in Mangalore on January 16, Wednesday, he said it is good to note that a University is being named after Tipu Sultan and that 50 per cent of the seats in the University would be reserved for Muslims and other minority communities.
Continuing, the governor was highly critical of the state government for the delay in appointment of Lokayukta and said the corrupt MLAs and ministers were coming in the way. He said he would once again request the government to appoint a Lokayukta at the earliest.
