Bangalore: You can call him Dr.M.Chidananda Murthy (Chimu for his friends), as the Karnataka Governor has finally accepted the recommendation of Bangalore University to confer an honourary doctorate degree on Prof. Chidananda Murthy, a scholar and researcher. This sequence has followed when the permission was refused by the Governor at first and a hailstorm of criticism from eminent Kannada writers and others followed from the Kannada people, against the Governor for such a mistake even as chancellor., just when the 77th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan (an annual conference of literary persons) took place in Bangalore after 40 years, and Prof.Murthy was disgraced then. Presently the Conference has ended on Sunday, and today the Governor has relented to the honour due to Prof.Murthy, but only after a resolution was passed on the final day of the Kannada Conference against the Governor, who was displeased with Prof,Murthy for having endorsed church attacks. Prof.Murthy denied his endorsement. Thus the way was cleared for his honourary Doctorate degree.
