Udupi: The farmers must fight unitedly to make their voices heard, opined Bharatiya Kisan Sangha National president I N Basavegowda.
He was speaking prior to the enrolment campaign of the association at the district office on Monday.
Basavegowda said that our nation is prosperous as 70% of the people in the country have been into agriculture. As more and more people drift away from agriculture, the government could not meet to the demands of people.
The farmer leader said that the government prefers industries over agriculture. The main reason for this is the lack of unity among farmers. The farmers must fight in unity and ensure their voices heard, he added.
Association Udupi unit president B V Poojary, vice president Ramachandra Alse and treasurer Vasudeva Shanubhogue were present.
