Mangalore : Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, Sanathana Seva Trust, Kadala Sene and SC/ST Committee jointly staged a protest in front of the DC office on July 25 opposing delay in the registering and issuing of the Adhar Cards.
Social activist M G Hegde in his protest speech said that even though the government’s initiative to issue the unique number for every citizen is welcome, but, the pain people take during the process while registering it is opposed.
Hegde also said that the Government must also introduce an independent department ‘Card Issuing Authority of India’ having branches in all states and Union territories that can provide various cards like Voters ID card, ration card, Pan card, NPR and other in a simplified manner and can be obtained by the local authorities. The government must also adopt the ‘ Single Window System’ which issues all kinds of cards under one roof, he added.
Today people must carry 25 types of cards with him when he visit any government offices for the land related issues and ration cards. Hence government must simplify the ID card system or else it will create card Mafia and people will have to suffer, he said.
