Bengaluru : Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T.B. Jayachandra on Wednesday said the State government was not interfering in the investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into alleged sexual harassment and criminal intimidation complaints against Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swami of Sri Ramachandrapura Math.
Reacting to National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam’s charge that the State government and the police were delaying filing chargesheets against the seer, Mr. Jayachandra said the CID has been probing the case and the government has no intention of interfering in the case.
“After considering all angles, the CID will file the chargesheet.” The court has granted bail to the seer, Mr. Jayachandra said while rubbishing Ms. Kumaramangalam’s charges against the government.
Ms. Kumaramangalam called on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Mr. Jayachandra on Tuesday to discuss the case. The NCW chief claimed the State “lacked political will” in taking action against the seer.
