Bangalore : The State Government will be offering milk to school children studying in classes from first to tenth standard from July 1 this year to tackle the problem of malnutrition in children. Beginning from July 1, the students of government schools will be provided with 150 ml milk free of cost.
The CM said the scheme to supply milk to the students has been introduced with the aim of helping KMF which had earlier expressed its inability to handle increased collection of milk following increased subsidy for milk. Nearly 60 lakh students across the State could be receiving their quota of milk in a brick pack, as the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) The milk will be supplied for some 200 days a year to the children.
The brick packs will enable KMF to not only supply hygienic milk but also manage its logistics well. Storage also becomes easy, the official pointed out, adding that the cost of investment on plant and packing is quite high.
