Belthangady: “The government should have explained the technical aspects of Yettinahole project to the people of Dakshina Kannada. Instead of many protests, the government is mum on this matter. Still time is there the government can explain the exact fact of the project to the people,” said Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade.
He was speaking after meeting Netravati Rakshna Samyukta Samiti members, who visited Dharmasthala seeking direction from Veerendra Heggade to decide the further course of action of the protest, on Sunday.
“I have seen the peoblems of Kolar and Ramanagar people. They also facing severe water related problems. But in Dakshina Kannada the ration of rain fall has been decreased drastically. At this point of time turning the river is not a good idea,” he said.
He further said that the government is not responding to the protests of DK people. Concerned authorities should try to increase the ground water level by rain water harvesting and check dams.
Committee President Vijay Kumar Shetty, Purushottham Chitrapura, Shashiraj Kolambe, Ravindra Shetty Ulidhottu and others were present.
