Mangalore : A vehicle rally from Kinnigoli to Moodbidri organised by Mathra Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi to oppose the proposed Niddodi thermal power plant, was flagged off at Kinnigoli on October 22, Tuesday by Lakshminarayana Asranna. Chief Preist of Kateel Temple.
In his address, Asranna said there was a need for a united fight against the project. He also urged the government not to neglect the interests of the district.
Fr William Martis, Alphonso D’Souza, President of Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi also spoke on the occasion. Nearly 300 vehicles took part in the protest. Among others who participated include Fr Alfred Pinto of Kinnigoli church; Rotary club President Robert Rosario, Yugapurusha’s Kodethur Bhuvanabhirama Udupa, Niddodi Catholic Sabha president Valerian Sequeira, Kiran Manjanbailu, Convenor of the Samrakshana Samithi and others.
