Mangaluru: “The government has decided to implement the ‘Paschima vahini’ project and it will soon hold talk with the Deputy Commissioners of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district,” said Chief Whip of the government at Legislative Assembly, Ivan D’Souza.
Addressing to the press reporters on Saturday at his office he said that no developments were seen till now in this project. While answering a question at Assembly, Small Irrigation Minister T B Jayachandra has said that 161 vented dam projects have been implemented at the cost of Rs 7399 lakh. Out of these 35 projects work is in progress.
“I have discussed with Minister T B Jayachandra and Minister M B Patil regarding the Paschima Vahini project and they have assured that the project will be implemented soon and the discussions with the district administration will be held soon,” he said.
He further said that people should be educated about rain water harvesting. Newly built buildings and the houses with more than 2500 sq ft area must implement this idea.
