Bantwal: “The difficulties and the problems faced by the Areca and rubber growers will be discussed in Vidhan Soudha, all the problems will be brought to the notice of the government,” said Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo.
J R Lobo visited Peruvai village near Vittal and listened to the problems of farmers. He inspected the farms and crops of some of the farmers and visited their houses also.
“Rubber and areca are the two main commercial crops of coastal area. Now, the farmers are facing lot of troubles, as the prices of these crops have been fallen drastically. The government of Karnataka will surely announce the support price for these crops like Kerala,” he said.
He further said that it can be observed that mixed crops yield more profit. The coastal region hasn’t witnessed any suicide cases till now. This is a living example for yielding profit in mixed crops. It proves that the suicides can be prevented by growing mixed crops.
The local people appreciated the MLA’s promise to discuss the matter in Vidhan Soudha.
