Udupi : The State government’s decision to hand over the case of Kabir’s encounter in Sringeri to CID and providing the compensation package of Rs 5 lakhs to his family is condemned, said Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar.
Speaking at the press meet held on April 21, Monday, he said that there is a case of illegal cattle transportation against these four persons in Surathkal, Bajpe and Moodabidri police stations and the government’s decision to give Rs 5 lakh compensation to victim’s family gives a wrong message to public. The government’s such irresponsible decision will protect the wrong doers and continue such acts.
Sunil also said that from past 8-10 months, there are countless cases registered in connection to illegal cattle transportation in the police stations across Dakshina Kannada district and the department is ot allowed to take any actions against the culprits, in such a situation government’s decision to compensate Kabir’s family will encourage traders to commit a crime. This will be one of the reason to increase illegal cattle trafficking across the state.
Kabir was booked in many cases of illegal cattle trafficking registered in Moodibidri, Bajpe and Surathkal police stations and the government is likely encourage the criminals and snatch the morality of police.
He urged the Chief Minister and Home Minister to immediately withdraw the decision of compensating the deceased’s family.
Government, who has failed to handover forced sex case of medical student to CID and CBI inquiry, is willing to hand over this useless case to CID and showing the public openly of being biased, he informed.
