Udupi :  A fully automatic garbage disposal machine invented by young engineers Nidhish Shetty  and Abhiman Shetty and which is operational on an experimental basis in Belapu gram panchayat for the first time, impressed a team of presidents and development officers from  various  gram panchayats of DK and  Udupi districts as well as Madoor GP in Kasargod district. Many of the gram panchayats though expressed their willingness to have similar units installed in their villages too; they said the same has to be approved by the authorities concerned after a feasibility report was submitted.

Belapu Gram Panchayat President, explained about the operations of the plant to the visiting team. GP chiefs and officers from Bajpe, Laila, Ujire, Nidle, and Someshwar too had a view of the unit and its mechanism.
