Karkala: A young woman has filed a complaint against a Gram Pamchayat member for ditching her after delivering a baby, on Tuesday.

Sharath Shetty, is the accused, who ditched the woman after having relationship with her over a year.

As per the victim’s statement, she was working as a nurse in a Mangaluru based hospital and later she joined a hospital at Manipal. At that time she came in contact with Harish in Manipal.

Sharath Shetty is a auto driver by profession and also was a member of Neere GP. He used to drop the victim to the hospital daily and used to take back her home. After they build a relationship between them, Sharath promised her to marry her and started to have physical relationship with the victim.

After woman delivered a baby, he denied marrying her. As per the reports Sharath only took her to the hospital as she was having labour pain. She delivered a baby on November 28.

The case has been registered at Karkala police station.
