Chennai: Two reasons for holding IPL-5/T-20 cricket entertainment show in Chennai this year on April 3: The organiser BCCI has a president, N. Srinivasan from Chennai, and in the last 2 seasons, Chennai Super Kings team led by present Indian captain M.S. Dhoni, has won the IPL honours in finals. This year it will be a hat-trick, if they put it a cross to other teams.

Sachin Tendulkar, captain of Mumbai Indians, relinquished his leadership and gave it to Harbhajan Singh, who is missing from Team India these days, and does not belong to Mumbai at all.

But Bhajji is glad about becoming the skipper this year as a regular bowler and occasional batsman.

A glittering opening ceremony featuring foreign dancers and Indian film stars made IPL-5 a promising glamour show. Big-B Amitabh was there after two abdominal Surgeries, with a recital of his poem, written by Prasoon Joshi, a lyricist.

Bachchan’s baritone voice and inimitable style, with dances from Shiamak Dawar in the background, made the opening show fabulous, to set the stage for a 54-day all India cricket extravaganza.

A south African percussion band, Priyanka Chopra’s dances, Prabhu Deva’s terrific dance show, Kreena Kapoor among several beauties shaking legs, Dhoni answering questions, were all there. Skippers of 9 teams,Rahul Dravid and Adam Gilchrist led the players taking pledge on MCC spirit of Cricket. IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla was presented on stage Fireworks rent the skies later.
