Mangaluru: Two young women had a miraculous escape after the car they were travelling in fell into the Phalguni river. The incident took place at Maravoor on Sunday morning.

According to source, the two young women were travelling from Bajpe towards Mangaluru, to pick up one of their friends’ parents. They hired a car in Bajpe for the purpose. One the way, they stopped by the Maravoor bridge to visit the check dam. After that when they were moving towards Mangaluru, one of the women, who was driving, lost control over the vehicle and the car fell into the river.

The locals, who happened to see the car falling, rushed to the spot and rescued the women just when the car was about to submerge completely. Bajpe police, too, was called for help.

The car was later lifted out of the water with the help of a crane.
