Mangalore: The new Mayoress of MCC, Gulzaar Banu Sheikh, was present to inaugurate world women’s Day at Katipalla ‘Ashraya’ Colony by lighting a traditional lamp. She gave a call to all her sister to talk less and work more, so that families could overcome poverty and society can make concerted development through hard planned work.
The day was celebrated jointly under Golden Jubilee Urban Rozgaar plan and city Administration directorate on Monday MCC community Affairs officer, Roopa Shetty made introductory remarks on the occasion.
Mayor Banu explained that she would do all she can to fulfit the needs of urban women under her care.
MCC Poverty Removal Cell expert on skills development and city ways of life, Achyuth Moodubage, wished the women all the best in live hood by self reliance.
Another expert. Irene Rebello, participating in the proceeding as a resource person told women to realise their importance in human society individually and revolt against any exploitation and external domination, while moving to higher level of human development.
They could teach their children how to be equal with all in a group from their younger days. They should come forwards to take part not only home, but in a wider world, with the firm belief in women’s empowerment and her capability to lift the world out of its morass by her own strength.
