Udupi: Former Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty, convened a press meet on January 3, Thursday to condemn an advertisement issued in a Kannada daily under the name of Kota Srinivas Poojari fans club and  opposing the attack on the minister’s car and also the tearing down of his posters.

Though the ad had no mention of Halady anywhere, he chose  to convene the press meet and clarify that  the ad revealed groupism in politics. He also sought explanation on the contents of the ad.”It is illegal to print any sort of notice without the name and address of any organization or individual,” he said adding ads which create barriers are not welcome considering the fast approaching assembly elections.

 Halady said for him power was not important and that he only wants to serve the people.”I may or may not continue in politics,” he said. He also refuted reports that he may join the Congress or KJP. Though he admitted that almost all parties had contacted him, he said he was still undecided.
