Bangalore:  Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty who had remained firm on his stand despite persuasion from several party leaders has finally tendered his resignation to Speaker Bopaiah in Bangalore on Tuesday afternoon. Halady has also confirmed that his resignation has been accepted.

It has been reported that Halady was unrelenting though a number of BJP leaders had met him and tried to coax him to go back on his decision. Reports say even RSS leader Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat who was allegedly responsible for denial of a cabinet berth for Shetty, spoke to Shetty over phone to persuade Shetty.

Halady speaking to reporters said he honoured the sentiments of his followers and admirers and decided to go ahead. At the same time, he said he would not take any other hasty decision now that he has quit his legislatorship.
