Siddapur: The efforts made by various BJP leaders since the past few days to persuade Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty to go back on his decision to quit BJP, has failed to yield any result so far. On July 16, even State Minister Suresh Kumar met Halady at his residence and held talks with the leader, but of no avail.
Earlier, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bat, former Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar as well as Udupi District BJP President Udaykumar Shetty were among several who met Halady and held talks with the leader but failed to convince him to withdraw from his decision to quit.
On Tuesday, even AG Kodgi, Chairman of the Third Finance Commission Task Force Committee was present, but the two hour long meeting was indecisive.
Later speaking to reporters, Suresh Kumar said he told Halady to take positive decision sand his issue would be taken note of. However, Halady who too spoke said though he has respect for the BJP leaders who met him, there was no question of backtracking and his decision was as per the request of party workers and his admirers of his constituency.
