Mangalore: Members of Congress Seva Dal and leaders of Congress Party headed by KPCC state secretary Ivan D’Souza here garlanded a portrait of Seva Dal founder late Na. Su Hardikar, on his birth anniversary on May 7, Saturday, at the office.
City MLA UT Khadar, present on the nostalgic occasion, recalled Hardikar’s devoted services of forming a national Seva Dal Kakinada Congress of 1923, influenced by Bal Gangadhar Tilak and martyr Lala Lajpat ray. The Dal was composed of disciplined and trained youths to spearhead the freedom struggle then with a sterling character to free India.
Hardikar was in Rajya Sabha twice, from 1952 to 1962, and received Padma Bhushan form govt. of India in 1958, Khader stated for his selfless service to India.
Ivan told in a speech that Seva Dal was a main component of Indian national Congress, only to strengthen it and protect the country. He wanted Seva dal members to spread to local booth levels, to ensure success of his Party.
