Mysore : It has now come to light that con couple Haricharan S. Rao-Rachana Rao, who were arrested from their Saraswathipuram 11th Main residence in city on Thursday morning by Mangalore Police for allegedly cheating some photographers by collecting money in the pretext of getting them lucrative jobs abroad, have also cheated more than 10 Engineering graduates in city by collecting nearly Rs. 10 lakh in the pretext of getting them jobs at software companies in Mysore and Bangalore.
According to a complaint filed by one Sangameshwar, a resident of LIG 38, 2nd Cross, 6th C Main, K-Block, Ramakrishnanagar, with Kuvempunagar Police (Crime number 213/2013) on Aug. 24, 2013, the couple collected Rs. 25,000 each from 10 BE graduates in the month of Aug. 2012 in the pretext of getting them lucrative jobs later collected at least Rs. 40,000 each from them and in some cases, more than a lakh of rupees before going missing without fulfilling their commitment.
The complaint further states that the con couple have cheated R.N. Pramod, S.B. Maheshwar, G. Chethan, Anil Kumar, Naveen, Akash, P.G. Sudarshan among others to the tune of more than Rs. 10 lakh.
It is also learnt that Haricharan Rao, on being pressurised by the victims for refund their money, issued cheques of ICICI bank to them, which needless to say ‘bounced’ and some cheque bounce cases are also pending before some courts in city against Haricharan Rao.
The Police also said that the couple had cheated a priest in Srirangapatna of Rs. 60,000 promising him a job.
A new complaint lodged at Mangalore Pandeshwar police station for cheating a youth of Mijar near Mudabidre assuring a job in King Fisher Airlines. They collected 55 thousand rupees from him. They not given job and cheated the money.
