Kadaba: Hasiru Sene workers picketed the Kadaba Tahashildar Office opposing the implementation Kumaradhara hydro power project on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering Hasiru Sene and Farmer’s Association State President kodihalli Chandrashekhar, said that the government is helping the corporate companies by giving a subsidy of Rs 40 lakh crore, but the same government is not bothered about the farmers of this country.
“The government is wasting millions of money on corporate companies, but when a farmer commits suicide it rejects to give compensation to his family. It rejects to waive his loan. It is the most shameful fact of this country. If the Kumaradhara hydro power plant project is approved then, acres of fertile land will get buried. It is not possible to create such a land again. The government don’t have the authority to destruct the nature,” he said.
He further said that farmers can’t grow paddy inside the office. It is common sense. The government has kept on increasing the salary of its employees, but hasn’t done anything for the farmers.
“Now we are protesting on front of taluk office, further we will got to District In-charge Minister, if we didn’t get justice their also, we will go to CM and Energy minister to discuss about the matter,” he added.
State Secretary of Farmers Association, Subrahmanya Shasthri said that the farmers will not allow acquiring their land. The protest will continue till they die.
“We are ready to scarify our lives to stop this project. The drama of constructing a dam to the river has been continued since past 25 years. Many artists have performed their role in the drama,” he said.
District President of the Association Shreedhar Shetty bailugutthu, Vice-President Dharnappa Gowda Idyadi, Karunakara Gogate, Sharat Bantwal and others were present.
