Mangalore : ‘I want to transform forest department into a friendly department’, said B Ramanatha Rai, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment and District In-charge Minister.

He was speaking at the programme ‘Meet the Press’ held at Press Club on June 17, Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that there are three type of department like development, service and cconservation and once again I have got conservation department like Forest Department.

Minister also said that globalization can be managed carefully with environment and forest protection. Forest conservation is as important as consuming food since it is necessary to keep environment balanced.

Rai said that he will hold a ‘Harisre nanna Usiru’ Andholan in district on June 25 and invite all the state level leaders and ministers to discuss about the environment protection.

Speaking on the problems of Kudubi community located in the forest, he said that there are problems of people evacuated from forest in name of development and government forest land acquired by people, hence it must be studied thoroughly and take action.

The department will support Hydel power project only if it do not harm the forest and wild life. Conservation is aim of the department.

Rangamandir was started by Congress government and again it is back in our hands and this time we will complete it.

Speaking on moral policing, minister said that the police station from each area must have control and take action on the moral policing taking there, or else home minister will take action on the police station officials, he said.
