Bangalore: Governor Hans Raj Bharduraj made it cleared that neither Annasaheb Hazare nor Baba Ramdev, had any right to talk about Indian black money hidden abroad. He was talking at the Indian Income Tax department’s 150th annual celebrations in Bangalore, and asked if Annasab and Baba were Tax experts, to speak on Black money deposits.
The Governor ruled out their right to recall unaccounted money deposits, kept by rich Indians abroad in Swiss banks or elsewhere.
He added that even if some persons, evading taxes, deposit the money abroad, such money was not safe in lockers or vaults there. A strong Bill passed in Parliament against such foreign deposits, can force the money back to India, the former union Law minister hinted.
Answering a query on phone tapping and final report due to the state from Lokayukta, Hans Raj replied that he should receive a copy of the report before taking necessary action, on phone-tapping etc. he said his post was Constitutional, and someone has to complain to him to sit right the matters gone wrong. This holds good for Lokayukta as well, if he had any grievance to be attended to, by a competent authority as Governor.
