Mulky(DK): As a programme under Malaria Control Month, conceived by Directorate of Publicity for Health and Family Welfare department, together with Information Wing at the premises of Mulky PUC (Govt) College, students plied a torrent of questions about Malaria in an awareness spirit to their lecturers on mosquitoes that spread the deadly Malarial disease, that shakes a patient from head to foot when he is attacked.
Why the mosquitoes don’t get Malaria? A PUC student asked others added more queries: what are the side-effects on man, while using the chemical attacks for protection from mosquitoes? Why the female Anopheles mosquito only spreads Malaria?
Dr. Arun Kumar answered the questions. He said Malaria had spread over DK dt. after 1990. He explained the features of disease spread by a unit cell pest called Plasmodium. Malaria was of 4 types. How malaria is detected when the attack came, and about free medical treatment provided to patients in full, only in Govt, hospitals, he detailed.
The lecturer covered the chemical and bio methods by which mosquitoes are brought under control. The malaria officer Jayaram then described the ways of self protection from malaria bites and subsequent experiences.
B.M. Asif, President of Mulky Town Panchayat (MTP) inaugurated the month long programme. He stressed upon malarial control in and around Mulky, and lauded all the efforts made to evoke students’ awareness on the need to fight the disease.

Prizes were distributed by the guests to students who won various competitions arranged on the occasion.
