Udupi: Health Minister Aravinda Limbavali has instructed health officials to conduct a door to door survey to check H1N1 and dengue cases and also to detect such cases.
Addressing a progress review meeting of health department, he also suggested the district administration to seek the assistance of nursing and para medical colleges in this direction.
District Surveillance Officer Dr Rohini informed the meeting that a total of 38 H1N1 cases were reported in the district this year and two from Udupi taluk had died. The rest have recovered, she informed.
District Health Officer Dr Ramachandra Bairi said 36 dengue cases have been reported this year of which 20 are from Bangalore and are receiving treatment at KMC Hospital. Three rat fever cases too were reported and the infected persons have recovered, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Dr MT Reju informed that an eye hospital at Kota has been closed down after those who underwent surgery there suffered problems.
