Mangaluru: A healthy competition leads to a successful life. First we should compete with us to be on the side of success. The competition which we compete without blaming others, helps us to win our life, said Manipal University former chancellor Dr B M Hegde.
He was addressing the gathering at Kreedabharati Talent Awards and Jijabai awards function organised by Kreedabharati Mangaluru division and Dakshina Kannada Physical Trainers Association.
“Physical education is kind of a psychological education. It keeps our body fit, so that our mind will also be fit. The term competition was introduced by foreigners. There was no word called competition in India. India philosophers always taught us to live with harmony,” he said.
He further said that there are more than 45 millions of malnutrition children present in this world. Instead of wasting billions of money to reach Mars, the same money could have been utilised for the nourishment of those children.
Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo said that in the verge of getting quality education, people should not forget the sports. Parents should build interest among children to participate in sports and games.
Jijabai award was presented to the mothers of those players who had achieved medal in international level.
Eleven coaches were also felicitated for their service in the field of sports.
ZP President Meenakshi Shatigodu, former minister B NAgaraj Shetty, Dr Mukundh, Sr Satish Bhandary, DDPI Walter D’Mello, Roopa D Bangera and others were present.
