Mangalore: Heavy rains on Tuesday night, accompanied by wild thunders, lightning and winds, created fresh problems for citizens going home all over Mangalore. Unfinished concrete roads, diggings on the road sides, mud-roads and trenches, and blocked drains made life on roads miserable for night travellers in the port city. The rainy season has not ended.
An apartment located near Mathias Park at Falnir was damaged as the retaining wall on the side crashed. The MCC had dug trenches on the other side of the wall, on the road, resulting in water pools and wall crash. Mud and debris are deposited on the doorsteps of Shanti Soudha apartment, making residents of 12 flats fearful of venturing out.The ground floor flat has its windows and walls damaged.
A dry fish storing godown in Bunder area had rain water entering into it. The smelly goods are drenched in rising water levels.
