Mangalore: Last night (Sunday) around 8 pm thunders broke out noisily and shooting rains fell on the port city for an hour before the noises moved away to Udupi along with lightning strikes and winds.
It was utterly difficult to move about on wet roads, even in autorickshaws, or two-wheelers, till 9 pm and late cinema goers and people travelling in buses were put to lots of inconvenience, especially around marriage halls in city.
Those who reached home by 7 pm were safe, but were frightened by thunder strikes from an unseasonal autumn rainfall on a Tulsi Puja day, after Diwali celebrations.
The roads became slippery, potholes turned into dirty pools, and shelters at Bus stops were crowded with anxious people going honewards. The rains will continue on Monday, perhaps earlier.
