Mangalore : The State High Court on November 19, Monday stayed the FIR filed against Kasturi channel reporter Naveen Soorinje in the Morning Mist Homestay attack case.

It may be recalled here that Soorinje was not only made the 44th accused in the case, but was also booked under the same sections of IPC under which the perpetrators of the attack were booked.

The High Court has asked the police to cite reasons for Soorinje’s arrest and has also described as ‘fake’ the FIR registered against him.

Soorinje is now likely to be released on  November 20, Tuesday.

Soorinje was arrested by the Kankanady police on November 7 sparking off protests.
