Mangalore: Sahana Kumari from Ullal, India’s medal hopes in Olympics was felicitated at her alma mater Sri Gokarnanatheshwara College in Mangalore on July 9, Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahana expressed her immense gratitude to the institution and its teachers who had patronized her and identified the talent in her.
Purushottam Poojari, Sahana’s sports trainer in the college, too was all praise for Sahana and her capabilities, hard work and zealousness that has helped her realize her ambition of making it to the Olympics.
Narasimhamurthi, Lecturer, spoke in length of Sahana’s achievements until now and also of the cooperation extended to her by her athlete husband Nagaraj.
A cash of Rs 50,000 including Rs 25000 on behalf of the College and Rs 25000 from Harish Sherigar, Dubai, an alumnus of the College, was handed over to Sahana Kumari.
A large number of students, faculty, college management authorities were present on the occasion.
