Kundapur: Students are committing suicide these days in the Coastal region under one silly pretext or the other, unable to face what looks like adversity, but actually may be a stepping stone to success, just as some farmers with loans to repay (of small amounts) not finding a way out except by snuffing out one’s own life, depriving their families of basic support.
Swastik, a 9th standard student in Venkataramana English School here hanged himself on Thursday, September 22 without a note to explain his position, at age 15.
Local police investigating this case feel that the boy was overwhelmed by bad performances in his ongoing mid-term examinations. It was too early for him at this stage in a year, in a class, in a dilemma to take his own life by an extreme step, without consulting parents and teachers, only to plunge them in misery, by his devastating act. He needed counseling.
The Police are trying to find if there is any other angle to the tragedy in that critical age of growth in teens, when they grow into adulthood and physical features change.
