Udupi : Manjunath Swamy, head, public relations, South Zone, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), said here on Thursday that it was wrong on the part of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) government headed by Pinarayi Vijayan in Kerala to have implemented the order of the Supreme Court as it was against the sentiments of the Hindu community.
He was speaking at a public meeting to protest against the Kerala government for allowing the two women to enter the Ayyappa Swamy Temple at Sabarimala, organised by the district unit of Sabarimala Kshetra Samrakshana Samiti here.
Mr. Swamy said that the Hindu community could never accept the order of the Supreme Court on Sabarimala Temple as it went against traditions being followed for centuries. Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, president of district unit of the BJP, said that the incident in Sabarimala was akin to an assault on the beliefs of the Hindu community.
It was not just the Sabarimala Temple, other temples too had their own traditions. The women of Muslim community could not enter their places of worship. Why should it be applied to the Hindu community in the case of Sabarimala, he asked.
