Mangaluru : Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti began hunger strike on Tuesday August 8 against in front of DC office against the state government and the police for not arresting the murderers of RSS worker Sharath Madivala since one month.
Speaking at the protest, VHP working president M B Puranik said that, the police department failed to arrest the murderers for a month after Sharath died in hospital after being fatally assaulted. In Ashraf Kalayi’s case, the police nabbed the culprits within 24 hours, he said
The common people are living in fear in the district. People are losing faith on the police, how can they protect the people?” he questioned.
We are worried about whether we are in India or in a country of morals. In Kerala, under CPI(M) government our RSS and BJP leaders openly killing, but the Kerala police and their government supporting it, he said.
VHP leader Jagadish Shenava said that, the police have clues of the killers. The government is controlling police power for thier vote politics. When SDPI leader Ashraf Kalayi was murdered, the accused were nabbed within 24 hours.Why this difference in Sharth case and also of Pawan’s murder at Melkar and those behind the attack on Chiranjeevi at Kuthar.
The police raided the residence of Satyajit Suratkal, Sharan Pumpwell and Harish Poonja and booked them under IPC Section 308, but, no one arrested stone pelting during Sharath’s procession, police also not made any efforts to arresting them.
Former MLC Monappa Bhandary said, Police showed their credibility in tracing the culprits behind the murders of Jaleel Karopady and Ashraf Kalayi, but why not in Sharath’s case? This indicates the police are under the clutches of congress politicians.
HJV leader Sathyajit Suratkal said, Government is misusing the police department and pressuring the officers. Congress supporting organizations such as Popular Front of India (PFI), he said.
Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell, Diwakar, Kishore Kumar, and others were present.
Similar protests were also held in Bantwal, Moodbidri, Sullia, Puttur and other places in the district.
