Mangaluru: Condemning the move of the government to celebrate Tippu Jayanti in the state on November 10, Hindu Jana Jagrati Vedike staged protest against the government in front of DC office on Monday.

Addressing the protestors Vedike Ranaragini branch member Bhavani Prabhu said that Tippu killed Onake Obavva and such brave women of the state. Celebrating his Jayanti is like insulting Obavva, Kitthuru Rani Chennamma, Belavadi Mallamma and such other freedom fighters.

“Tippu and his followers were trying to spread Islam in the state as well as in Kerala. Now also same thing is happening in the state and this was revealed during the interrogation of Rudresh’s murder accused. Many are trying to convert the Hindu youth in the name of love jihad, Romeo Jihad and other ways,” she said.

She further said that converted Hindu youths are used for the terrorist activities in the country.

“How can the government celebrate a person’s birth anniversary who was against women? Is this the way Congress is empowering women’s?” she questions.
