Mangalore: The surroundings of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) was beefed up by the security on Aug 30 Tuesday after receiving letter of the presence of bombs inside the MCC building.
Reportedly, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh had received the letter claiming the bombs inside MCC. As soon as the information was received the Police personnel rushed to the spot with sniffer dogs and bomb squads.
The letter in short stated that the bomb will go off at exactly 3:30 p.m. during the council meeting was scheduled.
Although the people gathered for the meeting were in a state of panic, they were asked not to leave the premises.
The police and the bomb squads searched the building and its surroundings for two hours; but they did not find any bombs and considered it to be a hoax letter.
The police informed to trace the culprits who sent the letter as soon as possible.
Discussing in the council meeting, Mayor Praveen announced that the street vendors to provide two places near the service bus stand and the others street vendors from Lady Goshen area who have been evacuated will be given place to conduct their business.
