Bangalore: Home and Transport Minister R. Ashoka informed Press persons today that he was seized of certain police personnel problems, and would spend a night in police quarters one of these days to understand police problems of existence better. He would raise daily allowances of Rs.50 to Rs.100 per policeman for day and night inspection rounds in cities for providing higher security to citizens, against terrorists and violent armed men who harass them in the state.
The Minster said he would allow accredited media persons to travel free (on passes) in KSRTC buses. He distributed smart cards to them in a seminar meeting today.
He told that the “police beat” roads (Gastu) system would be revived, with new Inspectors getting recruited to the police forces. A bill would be introduced in the next legislative session, to overhaul old police manuals to solve modern problems affecting police people he said.
