Mangalore: Families of four of the 24 arrested in connection with the Morning Mist Home Stay attack, have claimed that they were innocent.

Taranath Kannur, Taranath Alva, Rajesh and Venugopal whose family members convened a press meet in Mangalore on September 4, Tuesday, said  they have been detained for no fault of theirs. Chandrika Alva, wife of Taranath Alva, Vidyavathi, wife of Venugopal, Nalinakshi, wife of Ramesh Kotian, Sri Vidya, sister of Rajesh and Sarvani, Taranath’s mother addressed the press meet.

They said they have submitted memoranda to the DC, Commissioner and SP a month long stating that the four were innocent, but of no avail.

If Chandrika Alva said Venugopal and Taranath Alva  had nothing to do with the incident, Taranath’s mother said he was not in Padil when the attack took place.

Rajesh’s sister Sri Vidya too said that her brother Rajesh was not involved in the incident and had only been to meet Subhash Padil after watching the video footages.

The families also said that justice has been denied to them until now.
