Mangalore: Shekhar Devadiga, an autorickshaw driver of Kadri area in Mangalore won commendations from all over on October 30, Tuesday after he returned a bag consisting cash of Rs 8 lakhs and two mobile sets to the police station. Devadiga noticed the bag in his vehicle only after he completed two trips in his autorickshaw and not knowing who was its rightful owner, he went straight to the traffic police at Jyothi who directed him to Pandeshwar police station on coming to know that a complaint had been lodged there regarding the missing bag.
No sooner Devadiga arrived at Pandeshwar station, even the complainant was summoned and the bag then handed over to the rightful owner. The owners of the bag thanked the auto driver, praised his honesty assured him reward The bag belonged to Shahid Sheikh from Kolkata. He had come to visit Shameer of Kaprigudda to purchase a flat in the city. On October 30, Shahid and Shameer’s wife along with a kid had hired Devadiga’s auto and had unknowingly left the bag in the autorickshaw.
Shekhar Devadiga, the honest auto driver has two children Reshma who is doing her engineering and son Karthik, a second year B.Com student.
