Mangalore: In a memorial meeting held at the martyrs’ structure outside the Kadri Park held on Monday morning IGP G. Prathap Reddy informed the gathering of Ex-service men and other dignitaries, that the Bangla war of 1971 will be remembered on this day for the sacrifices of our soldiers who fot the war against Pakistan in fewer of Bangla Desh several local men on west coast had laid down their life’s fighting for the helpless Bangolies of east Bengol and captured a huge Pakistan lot of 93,000 soldiers. The day of Dec.16 continues to be remembered as a new Martyrs Day other than 30th January (1948) for Gandhiji and Martyrs of Indian war of Independence.
Vijaynath Vital Shetty an industrialist and rural games sponsor told the audience the country was kept safe and well-guarded by Indian soldiers on our borders all the time so that we citizens in towns or cities could happily carry on with our duties and patriotism. But the soldier is expected to die while the national citizens keep themselves alive. Hence we must always remember those brave man who lay down their lives so that we could prosper in our professions.
