Karkala: Congress Party leaders and activists of Karkala taluk on Wednesday (dec.17) alleged that certain miscreants had damaged over 50 out of 100 banners showing Rahul Gandhi’s picture between Maravoor and Karkala on the night of Tuesday.

They felt this was a deliberate attempt to defame and insult the Nehru Gandhi family scion at a time when the family had ruled India at the center and in UP for several decades since Independence.

It was possibly an echo of BJP economist’s lecture that ridiculed Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday on the coastal belt. The congress party leaders of Udupi and D.K district have decided to hold a public rally in protest against the miscreants who damaged Rahul portraits, on Dec.22 at Mijar Bolechar. Vijaynath Vittal Shetty a Mangalore city Congress leader from Bajpe, requested congress men in the twin districts to participate in the proposed rally in hundreds, to protest against hooliganism.
