Mangaluru : Mayor Kavitha Sanil has directed all hotel owners to supply hot and boiled water to customers in the monsoon season.
Speaking to media persons here, she said vector-borne diseases increase during monsoon and appealed to the citizens to take precautionary measures and cooperate with the civic body in containing the spread of such diseases.
Overhead tanks, drums, barrels used for storing water should be tightly closed, to ensure that mosquitoes do not breed in such places. Flower pots have stagnant water that can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes carrying dengue or malaria virus. Hence, the plate below the flower pots should be covered with sand, she said.
Coconut shells should not be dumped indiscriminately, she said.
