Mangaluru: The Mangaluru people experienced the year’s first cool evening rain on the evening of April 8th. This rain brings a much welcomed respite from months of blistering heat.
The summer heat that was torturing the city was reduced by this sudden unseasonal rain that brought nostalgic fragrance of the soil prevailing the air. Thunder and lightning accompanied the rains that covered the city. This rain is a pleasant break from the sweltering heat the enveloped the coast at the heighset temperature of 34 degree Celsius.
The sudden rain caught people unawares for many on the streets were seen seeking shelter. A few did enjoy the early fragrant shower and went about with their business.
The unexpected showers played spoilsport at Derlakatte, where the traffic was thrown out of gear due to the road widening work. The traffic moved at snail’s pace due to the mud-filled roads which made vehicular movement a challenging task. Even pedestrians had to check where they kept their next step. The jam only got worse with the buses and two wheelers getting stuck in the mud. Some of the commuters en route to Mangaluru took the easier diversion via Madoor route, claim sources.
Several areas located on the southern inland of Karnataka have already been receiving good rain on account of the low pressure areas created over the Arabian Sea.
