What are the achievements of Mangalore City Corporation to deserve the second place among 9 in the state? It is now a fast growing city with infrastructures.
New projects were started during 2010 here:
Several such projects, costing around Rs.180 crores were started and are in progress within city limits.
The city roads have been improved in many areas, like Shakthinagar, Kadri, Carstreet and Nehru Maidan, even Falnir with concrete materials for smooth traffic run and to break traffic jams in peak hours, by widening them or making one ways. A hundred crore rupees were spent, and one more instalment of Rs100 crores is coming soon, from the state govt.. The roads are widened 4-ways or even 6-ways to accommodate Volvo bodies and tourist vehicles.
Several public parks have been improved or renovated in city. 4 units are set up to recycle and purify waste water with 90 to 100 MLD capacity a day to purify 95% .“Self declared” property taxes on income were collected in 2010.
