Mangalore: Karavali Karnatakada ‘enna atmiya bandule mokeda namaskara’ Modi began addressing in Tulu language. He addressed to the huge gathering during the Bharatha Gellisi programme held at Nehru Maidan on Tuesday, February 18.
India is the youngest nation in the world, Because of the crores of youngsters in the nation, if the youngsters are given a chance, then they will take the nation towards development., said Narendra Modi, the prime ministerial candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party .
The people of Mangalore have won me today, you have made me yours. About a year ago I came to Mangalore. I saw a big change in the gathering. Today the whole field is full and there is no place to stand. While coming from the airport, I could see a human wall.”
Modi said that the region had given many banks to the country. “Coastal states and districts need a special policy for their development. Just one tailor made solution will not help in the country’s progress. Keeping in mind their needs, a separate vision is needed for these regions,” he said.
“Port development is not going to work; port lead development is what we need. The fishing community needs to be empowered by technology. If satellite technology is used it will save their time. I have implemented the same in Gujarat with success,” he said.
“It is the time that we accept urbanisation as opportunity. The Centre rejected urbanisation, but we must accept urbanisation. We need to change the face of infrastructure. Just roads, airports not sufficient. The quality of lighting used in these places is necessary,” he said. He added that a network to transmit electricity from surplus states needs to be established.
“The black pepper from the region is being used in the Parliament by Congress. Congress has destroyed the country. If there are voices of dissent against them, they send them to jails,” Modi said.
Modi attacking Congress said: “For how long will the Congress continue to mislead the people by using pepper in their eyes. The public knows whats happening. There is no democracy in the Congress. It is not in them to make use of democracy.” Congress is misleading the country through its promises and slogans, he added.
“There is unemployment in the country, farmers are still committing suicide. In 60 years, the country has never witnessed such a time what we are witnessing now. For the first time there is a government that is engulfed the country in corruption,” he said.
“Party is bigger than the people and Country is bigger than the party. This year’s election should be fought for the country and we should vote for India.” Modi said.
The formal stage programme started with ‘Vande Matharam,’ which was sung by renowned singer Shankar Shanbhogue and his troupe members who had arrived from Bangalore.
Free butter milk was also distributed to the people who had come to the programme braving scorching sun.
