Mangalore :  A huge protest rally and a Rasta Roko agitation was held near NITK on October 17  Thursday under the auspices of the Action Committee of people affected by NH expansion at Mukka. The complaint of the  agitators  was that the NH authority was hell bent upon acquiring 65 meters land at Mukka for highway expansion even when it has already acquired 49 meters in the past.

Moreover even the directive of the erstwhile government that no one should be inconvenienced due to the project, has been paid little heed by the present government, the protestors alleged. They blocked the NH for some time and demanded justice.

Among others who participated in the protest include  Mahabala Mukka, President of the Action Committee, former mayor Rajani Dugganna and Subhaschandra Shetty.
