Mangaluru: The Kachi Memon Zuma Masjid Muttavalli had given an unauthorized permission to a private builder to construct a Illegal building at Wakf board property in city, alleged Human rights activist Hanif Saheb Pajapala on Wednesday June 13.
Addressing a press meet in Mangalore, Haneef said, The property of Kutchi Memon Masjid belongs to Wakf Board. Nayeem Patel presently serving as Muthawalli of the masjid should discharge the duties as per the provision of the Wakf Act and protect the properties of Wakf. Instead, he has given the property of Kutchi Memon Masjid Golikatta Bazar in Bandar to private parties.”
The Muthuwalli had given a “No Objection Certificate” for construction of a building in 69 cents land on survey number 670/1 of the property which belongs to Waqf, without following any rules and regulation of the board. The Waqf Board also issued a show-cause notice, to Mutuwalli in this regard. It has also filed a case in the court in this regard, Haneef said.
The land has been registered in the name of Wakf Board in 1968 and though it was a property of the Wakf the Mutavalli had claimed that this was his ancestral property, a complaint had been registered with the MCC regarding the matter.
