Mangalore: A huge and grand Horekanike procession comprising hundreds of vehicles was held from Nehru Maidan to Kudroli Temple on the evening of October 14, Sunday in connection with the centenary celebrations of Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple of Kudroli. Brahmakalashotsava will be held at the temple for two days as part of the Centenary, to coincide with the Navaratri celebrations.
The procession was inaugurated at Nehru Maidan by senior leader B Janardhan Poojari.Vehicles carrying Horekanike from various parts of the district and across the state took part. Vehicles had arrived from Baroda, Kasargod, Mumbai Beltangady, Sullia, Puttur, Bellary Bangalore, Hassan, Bhatkal, Byndoor and other places, Even people of different faiths offered hore kanike marking solidarity.
Legislators UT Khader, Abhayachandra Jain, Temple Management board President HS Sairam, Co-President Urmila Ramesh Kumar, Raghavendra Kulur, Harikrishna Bantwal and several others were present.
Thousands of people joined the procession which had bhajan troupes, Kalladka dolls, Nasik band and not to forget the Chende team. Women holding Kalashas added grace to the function.
The procession reached the temple in the night.
