Mangalore : Hundreds of people including several leaders paid their last respects to departed freedom fighter and veteran CPI leader BV Kakkillaya who passed away on June 4, morning.
The mortal remains of the departed leader draped with the CPI flag, was placed at the CPI party office at Hoigebazar for the people to pay their last respects. The body was later consigned to flames at the Nandigudda crematorium.
Earlier, several leaders of various parties including deputy speaker Yogish Bhat, Congress leaders Ramanath Rai, Janardhan Poojary, K R Sriyan of CPIM,
CPI State Secretary K C Satish Chandran, CPM state council member B V Krishnan, rationalist Narendra Nayak, Padmanabha Kottari and Srikar Prabhu of BJP, district president of BMS Vishwanath Shetty, CPI Leaders from Kasargod, Muneer Katipalla of DYFI, Vasant Acharya of CPIM , offered tributes to the veteran CPI leader.
