Puttur: Hundreds of people witnessed the 21st annual Koti-Chennaya Jodukere Kambala organized by Jaya Karnataka organization led by N Muttappa Rai at  Devamaru field  here on March 3, Sunday. N Achutha Mudithaya, organizing committee president of   Puttur Mahalingeshwara Temple, inaugurated the event.

In his address, he said the Devamaru fields Kamblaa has a  history of several years. He also stressed the need to encourage this traditional sport.

Savanoor K Seetharam Rai, correspondent of Vidyarashmi Education Institution, presided over the function. Honorary president Vinay Kumar, N K Jagannivas Rao, Chanila Thimmappa Shetty, Sundaresh Athajje, C U Poovappa, Nirmal Kumar Jain, C Sankappa Shetty and others were present as chief guests.

Sudhaker Shetty, Kambala Committee Convener, President  and others were present.

Around 140 pairs of buffaloes took part in the Kambala. Vinnu Vishwanath Shetty, Udupi, Ramesh Kalladka, RBI director Naveen Bhandary, Harish Rai Kaniyoor Bharatha Sanman Award recipient and noted actress Anushka Shetty were felicitated on the occasion.
